U2 Adds More North American Dates To 360 Tour

U2 has added more North American dates to their 360 Tour.  Next summer, Bono and company will return to the United States and Canada to perform a dozen concerts.

Their first show is scheduled for June 6 in Anaheim and the last is scheduled for July 19.  That's when U2 takes the stage at Giants Stadium.  After that, the band returns to Europe for a slew of concerts in August and October.

The 2010 addendum allows U2 to visit cities they missed on 360's first go around—cities like Oakland, East Lansing, and Seattle as well as a U2 show in Philadelphia.

The Irish rockers will also be making return trips to Chicago and Toronto.

If you're unable to get your hands on U2 tickets, or next summer is too long of a wait, you can always watch their Oct. 25 concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl on YouTube.

The concert was originally broadcasted live on YouTube and it garnered 10 million streams across seven continents.  Needless to say, it was the largest event in the website's history.  Since then, the video has earned more than 1 million views.

However, YouTube has not released the average length-of-time viewers watched the nearly two-and-a-half hour concert.  Obviously, a lot of people just skipped to "Pride" and even more skip over performances of "Lemon" and "Discothèque."

Hopefully for U2, YouTube is paying them handsomely for all those hits.  After all, the band claims their mammoth (some will say bloated) 360 Tour has yet to break even.

That's a curious claim considering they've played for 3 million fans in 44 cities and set attendance records at the aforementioned Rose Bowl and Giants Stadium.

Also, if the tour isn't profitable, why haul that 170-ton, $40 million stage back to America next summer?

The band is probably making money but not enough money.  So to boost sales they announced that their gigantic 360 Tour is struggling to get out of the red.

Look at it this way, if you're debating about seeing the band in concert which statement is more likely to get you to part with your hard earn cash and buy tickets to see U2 in Vancouver (for example):  "we're struggling to break even" or "we're making money by the truckload?"

Even in a robust economy, most people would be unwilling to fork over a couple of hundred dollars for concert tickets to further line the pockets of bragging millionaire rock stars.   U2 knows this.  They know struggling sells.

MTV.com calls U2's 360 Tour the "most high-tech, enormous stage in the history of rock." Others have said it's the most corporate infused outing in the history of rock and roll.

It's interesting that U2, one of the few bands without an AARP card and with enough hits to fill a two-and-a-half hour concert, feels it's necessary to surround themselves with a lavish and corpulent stage.

They should save the special effects for bands that actually need them.   All U2 has to do is turn on the amps and rock and roll.

Guns N' Roses Announces Canadian Dates for 'Chinese Democracy World Tour'

Guns N' Roses Announces Canadian Dates for 'Chinese Democracy World Tour'

Guns N' Roses has announced Canadian dates for their 'Chinese Democracy World Tour."  The tour, supporting their latest release, is scheduled to begin Jan. 13 in Winnipeg with a Guns N' Roses concert.

The final show of the trek is Feb. 4 in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Metro Centre.  That's not to be confused with the Guns N' Roses Jan. 31 concert at the Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.

An American rock band supporting an album called "Chinese Democracy" in Canada.  That's more nationalities than you'll find a mall food court.

Fans of GNR have waited a long time for this trek.  Hitherto, Guns N' Roses had not launched a full scale tour to support their sixth studio album, Chinese Democracy, which dropped in November of 2008.

The album, which was 17-years in the making, has failed to live up to expectations (most of which were unrealistically too high).  Still, the opus went platinum in just a few months and eventually peaked at number three on the Billboard 200.

If you consider that the band has yet to promote the album with a tour and that Axl Rose has done absolutely no media, it's impressive that the album has sold as well as it has.

Guns N' Roses concert tickets are currently on sale for fans wishing to hear their latest album live, as well as some of their older songs.

The band is scheduled to play 13 dates in the Great White North.  You'll be able to rock out to Guns N' Roses in EdmontonGNR in Toronto, and then there's another Guns N' Roses show in Calgary.

These Canadians dates are preceded by four concerts in the Far East.  Come mid-December, the band will play shows in Taiwan and South Korea as well as two in Japan.

Axl Rose is the only original member of Guns N' Roses left.  That obviously means (sadly) no Slash.   The band's current lead guitarists are DJ Ashba and Bumblefoot.

As of right now there are no shows scheduled for the United States, but one can only assume that the announcement is just around the corner.

Andrea Bocelli Stars In Christmas Concert For PBS' Great Performances

Andrea Bocelli Stars In Christmas Concert For PBS' Great Performances

Italian Tenor Andrea Bocelli stars in a Christmas Concert with Canadian hit-maker David Foster for the PBS series Great Performances.

The show is scheduled to air this holiday season on PBS and is a companion piece to Bocelli's first ever Christmas album.  The collection of 14 songs called My Christmas is scheduled to drop Nov. 3.

The combination of Bocelli, Foster and Christmas is much easier to swallow than the recent coupling of Bob Dylan and the holidays.   While Dylan's Christmas in the Heart  album is becoming a joke, Bocelli and Foster's "My Christmas" is destined to be a holiday classic.

The show was recorded on Sept. 15.  Andrea Bocelli tickets were sold for the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.  Joining Bocelli on stage were Natalie Cole, Mary J. Blige, Reba McEntire, Katherine Jenkins, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

If that wasn't enough to make you set your DVR, Jim Henson's Muppets also made an appearance.   They joined Bocelli for a rendition of "Jingle Bells."

Besides that ubiquitous holiday ditty, expect to hear a bevy of Yuletide favorites including "White Christmas," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," "Angels We Have Heard On High," "Caro Gesu Bambino," and "Adeste Fidelis."

Bocelli sings "The Christmas Song" with Cole, a song made famous by her father.  Bocelli and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir tackled the beautiful "The Lord's Prayer" while Boccelli and Blige team up for "What Child Is This."

McEntire sings with Bocelli in a cover of Elvis' "Blue Christmas" and mezzo-soprano Jenkins is Bocelli's partner for the breathtaking "I Believe."

Foster provided new arrangements for all the songs and he also produced the album.

This collection of Christmas tracks holds a special place in Bocelli's heart.

"I have long dreamed of recording a holiday album that captures the beautiful traditions of the holiday season. Every year, these songs have brought incredible joy to me and my family, and it is my hope to give back that same joy by making this album."

Besides Christmas caroling for PBS, Bocelli will also be out on the road this winter for a series of concerts.   In November, fans of the tenor can buy Bocelli tickets for shows in Toronto, Fort Lauderdale, and Fresno.

In December, the Italian crooner will sell tickets to a show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and then for a show in Anaheim at the Honda Center.

Bocelli has sold more than 60 million albums throughout his 17-year recording career.  This past May, Bocelli sang "Il Galdiatore" and the Champions League theme song at the opening ceremony of the 2009 UEFA Finals.

Grammay Award-Winning Train Hits The Road For Newest Album Offering

by Zinder 19. October 2009 09:34

Every now and then, a song comes along that sticks with you, no matter how hard you try to get it out of your hear. I can remember when California rock outfit Train released their single “Drops of Jupiter.” That song stuck with me for a looooong time, probably because you couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing it. And it is the song they have become most well-known for, even years after its initial release.

The Grammy-award winning band is headed out on the road this fall, touring in support of its new album, Save Me. One of things that have always worked in the favor of this group is the fact that, while they may aspire to be a rock band, they actually fit quite nicely in the adult contemporary niche. This fact might serve them well when they go out on tour as this is the audience with the disposable income to buy tickets for the concerts.

This tour promises to be a successful one that will likely bring the band new fans as Save Me is a throwback to the early days of the group. In fact, the original line-up is present for this one, including lead singer Pat Monahan, drummer Scott Underwood and guitarist Jimmy Stafford.

The 25-city Train tour runs until December, with special guest Uncle Cracker (also a rocker who found fame in the adult contemporary industry with his hit “Follow Me”). Stops include a Train Orlando concert, a Train Portland tour stop, and a jaunt down to Texas for a Train Houston show. Fans in Georgia can get Train Atlanta tickets and the group will also make a stop in the Windy City for a Chicago Train show.

If a reliable, fun-loving concert is what you are looking for this fall, then the Save Me tour might be your best bet. Train is known for putting on a simple, yet entertaining, show and the music is always catchy enough to compensate for whatever lack of bells and whistles are missing during the actual show.
